Programs
Ellison/Parks is proud to offer enrichment programs throughout the school day.
During both surround care and the academic day, students partake in specials and activities. We are proud partners with many organizations. We have also been awarded grants to help us implement some exciting programs. |
ArtsEllison/Parks values art integration. Throughout the school you can see our students' artwork displayed. One of our valued partners, COOL (Creative Outlook On Learning) Schools, has played an integral role in our vision for arts integration. The organization partners teachers with artists. Together they design curricula that helps students grow artistically (click the logo below to learn more). The Ellison/Parks has been awarded the Arts Expansion and STARS Grants which help us continue our work of integrating the arts into all curriculum areas.

STEAMWe are excited to offer an exciting new STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) program to students in all grades (K0-3) which includes robotics instruction at least once a week during the academic day. Our Kindergarten students are exploring with Bee-Bots and our 1-3 graders are using Lego WeDo Robotics materials.

Music & Performing ArtsMusic and performing arts are an important part of our curricula. It is important students engage in song, dance, and poetry. We hold three performances throughout the year - Winter Production, Multi-Cultural Performance, and Spring Production. Our school performances are fully inclusive and integrate a combination of skill sets from staff and students.

Physical EducationOur P.E. special engages students in kinesthetic awareness through play and exercise. Our youngest learners develop their motor skills while our eldest build athletic skills including how to demonstrate good sportsmanship.
In the morning, our students have the opportunity to participate in the Boks program. Boks is a program, by the Reebok brand, designed to prepare students with the body and brain exercise they need to start their academic day. The Green Dragons is an organization that provides physical education through a combination of martial arts and nutrition. Students build stamina, discipline, and a strong foundation in kung fu as they explore how to care for their body, inside and out. Sportsman's Tennis & Enrichment Center, located on Blue Hill Avenue, was the first African-American tennis club in the United States. Standing for more than 50 years, the organization continues to support the greater community. Coaches from the center visit our school weekly to teach the sport of tennis during our after school program. |
